Edyth Bush Charitable Foundation to Build New, Innovative Home

and Reimagine Organization’s Ability to Support Local Community

Demolition of Existing Building is Underway

 

August 26, 2020, (WINTER PARK, Fla.) — Edyth Bush Charitable Foundation recently announced a new landmark building to replace its existing space in the heart of Winter Park, just off Park Avenue. Set to be completed in 2022, the building, affectionately known as “The Edyth,” will greatly enhance the resources available for the Foundation to strengthen and support nonprofit organizations and promote philanthropy in Florida. When the Foundation officially opens the doors to its innovative new home, there will be ample meeting space for the community to reserve and enjoy.

 

Thoughtfully designed by SchenkelShultz Architecture, The Edyth features an inviting glass facade, two-story atrium, and three levels, each with a distinct purpose. The overall layout is very similar to a theater, honoring Edyth Bush’s love and advocacy for the arts and the Foundation’s history of supporting the Central Florida arts community.

 

Meeting rooms and open space for the community to gather will occupy the first floor of the new building and will be available for the public to reserve. From community gatherings to intimate performances, art exhibitions, yoga classes, and space for local organizations to meet, the main level of the building will be a hub for creativity and connection.

 

The second floor, or “The Archibald,” named in honor of Edyth’s husband, who also made significant philanthropic contributions alongside Edyth, will house a community board room, equipped with state-of-the-art technology as well as office space for another nonprofit organization to rent out. The Foundation’s offices will take up the third floor of the building.

 

“Our new home will reshape our ability to serve the Central Florida community in a very dramatic way, and everyone on our team is very eager to welcome this next chapter of our 47-year history,” said Edyth Bush Charitable Foundation president and CEO David Odahowski. “Our intention is to create a gathering place that will spark creative new ideas, connect individuals and organizations doing good in the community, and provide the tools, space, and resources many nonprofit organizations would not have access to otherwise.”

 

Jack Jennings & Sons, one of Central Florida’s most respected general contractors, will oversee construction of the building, and the project is estimated to take approximately 16 to 18 months. Owner’s representative services are being provided by the talented team at Project Management Advisors, Inc.

 

The Foundation will move into its new home in 2022. The Edyth will occupy the same space as the Foundation’s previous building, and staff are temporarily working in a nearby office building.
